Exodus 32
Exodus 32:1-25
"I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it!", have you ever heard/said these words from/as a parent? This is an idle threat from a parent, but is the Lord's idol threat in Ex. 32 in response to Israel's worship of idols. The Lord did visit the people of Israel with a plague for their worship of the golden calf. Those that did not die as a result had to resort to consuming the god which they worshipped. If the Lord God did plague His people Israel as He did the unbelieving population of Egypt for their refusal to worship the God of Israel, how certain can we be the Lord has not/ is not visiting a plague upon our nation or our world for our idol worship or refusal to worship? With the cry of one believer, the whole nation of Israel quickly turned away from their worship of God. If Aaron were to have stood up to the idolatrous mob rather than capitulate to them, the 3,000 men might have been saved from death. Men, you are the Aaron of your families; Parents, you are the Aaron of your children; Husbands, you are the Aaron of you wives; Single mothers, you are all of these to all of yours, so stand up and lead your families in worship rather than in idolatry!
