Malachi 4:5-6, Luke 1:68-79
Praying with and not just for our children is how we can express delight in God's will for our children and our family; whereas, praying only for or not praying for our children is how we express doubt in God's desires for our children and families. We often fantasize about the influence our children will have upon our future world, but this prophecy of Zechariah (John the Baptist's father) leads us to consider our influence of our children and how it will impact our future world. Doubt of God's desires for us and our family will cause us as parents to fall silent, but delighting in God's desires for us and our family will cause us to speak out about the future of our children and our family. Malachi's unnamed future prophet that will assist Christ in the fulfillment of His Gospel was John the Baptist in the spirit of Elijah in the first coming, but we living in light of Christ's second coming might be named the forerunner of Christ in His second coming in the spirit of John the Baptist. The world still needs Jesus, and Jesus still needs us to distribute the gospel to yet another lost and dying world!!
